Job Requirements & Description: Language and communication skills - Advanced fluency: You need an exceptional command the source languages, including grammar, vocabulary, and idiomatic expressions, and Khmer is your native language - Excellent writing: Strong writing skills in Khmer are essential for accurate translations. Your Khmer spelling must be perfect. - Cultural knowledge: In-depth cultural awareness is crucial for correctly translating nuances, social norms, and context. - Research skills: You must be able to efficiently research unfamiliar topics, terminology, and jargon. Professional and technical skills - Subject-specific knowledge: Expertise in a particular field (e.g., law, story, medicine, finance) is a major asset. - Computer proficiency: Competency with standard software packages and translation software is necessary, working knowledge of Trados would be a plus. - Attention to detail: A high level of concentration and accuracy is required to avoid errors. - Professionalism: Punctuality, reliability, and self-discipline are important for meeting deadlines. - Ability to work under pressure and availability. Education and certification - Degree: A bachelor's degree is required, and degrees in languages or a specialized field. - Specialized training: Formal training in translation or a related field is beneficial. Experience and other qualities - Experience: At least a three years of professional translation experience. - Adaptability: Flexibility and the ability to handle pressure are important. - Continuous learning: A willingness to learn new skills and stay updated on trends is vital for career growth.
