Duties and responsibilities QS - Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare initial cost plans, budgets, and forecasts for projects. - Tendering & Procurement: Prepare tender documents, evaluate bids, and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors. - Contract Administration: Manage contractual obligations, variations, and payments. - Cost Control: Monitor ongoing costs, track changes, and ensure projects stay within budget. - Measurement: Measure and value work completed on-site (also known as "taking off"). - Reporting: Prepare financial reports and analyses for stakeholders. - Liaison: Work closely with project managers, site engineers, architects, and clients. QC - Develop & Implement Standards: Create and enforce quality control procedures, standards, and inspection plans. - Testing & Inspection: Perform product testing, monitor production, inspect materials (incoming/outgoing), and identify defects or deviations. - Process Improvement: Analyze quality data, investigate non-conformances, and recommend changes to improve product quality and efficiency. - Documentation: Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and quality reports, ensuring data accuracy. - Collaboration: Work with production, engineering, and suppliers to address quality issues and ensure compliance. - Training: Train other staff on quality control best practices and procedures.
