Position Summary The Supervisor – Purchasing is responsible for overseeing daily procurement activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing of materials, supplies, and services. This role ensures compliance with company policies, vendor management best practices. Key Responsibilities 1. Procurement Operations Supervise and coordinate daily purchasing activities to meet operational requirements. Source materials and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers. Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all procurement transactions. 2. Supplier Management Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, price, and delivery performance. Resolve supplier issues, including delivery delays, quality concerns, or pricing disputes. Maintain an up-to-date supplier database and evaluate new supplier opportunities. 3. Team Leadership Supervise, train, and mentor purchasing staff, ensuring high levels of productivity and accuracy. Set team goals, conduct performance evaluations, and identify training needs. Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department. 4. Cost Control & Process Improvement Analyze purchasing trends and identify opportunities for cost savings. Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to procurement. Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce procurement cycle times. Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, procurement regulations, and audit standards. 5. Coordination & Reporting Collaborate with production, engineering, warehousing, and finance teams to align procurement with operational needs. Prepare regular purchasing reports Address urgent material requirements and coordinate with internal departments to avoid operational disruptions. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Procurement, or related field. 3 years of experience in purchasing, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team-lead role. Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills. Knowledge of procurement processes, inventory management, and contract terms. Proficiency in systems and MS Office applications. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
